Northwest RVing

The Northwest RVing Blog site is hosted by MHRV (Manufactured Housing and Recreational Vehicle) Show Association. Each year, MHRV presents two important trade shows in the greater Seattle area to promote and display the RV Lifestyle. We are all about RVing and hope you will enjoy the many articles posted here about RVing in general and about our upcoming shows.

Spring is Here - Are You Ready?

Spring is just around the corner and that means it's time to take the RV out of hibernation. Before heading out on your first RV trip of the year, spend an afternoon going through your unit to make sure everything is in proper working order and ready to go. If you took the proper steps in winterizing your RV, it should be ready to go with minimal preparation.

Below is a handy checklist to get your RV ready for a spring camp-out:

Google Earth

For many RVers Google Earth is an indispensible tool, while other RVers have never heard of Google Earth. Let's take a look at what Google Earth is and how you can use it to gather a cornucopia of useful information to help plan your next RV trip.

What is Google Earth?

Ask the Tech

Do it yourselfers, gadget lovers and anybody looking to upgrade their RV won't want to miss this year's "Ask The Technician" exhibit at the 2016 Seattle RV Show. At the exhibit, you will find a fully accessorized travel trailer and tow vehicle equipped with the latest toys and upgrades. A seasoned RV service professional will be on hand to answer any and all your questions concerning general RV service, jacks, awnings, antennas and other installed accessories. Daily information talks from factory suppliers too!  Let's take a look at some of the featured products at this year's "Ask The Technician" exhibit:

Tailgating

One of the saddest statements I have ever heard was from the wife of a couple that gave up RVing after just a couple of years. The wife said, "Why do I need a RV when I can cook, clean and watch TV at home?" Granted, if there are no activities that you enjoy outside of your home, a RV may not be right for you. However, if you enjoy getting out, going places and enjoying outdoor activities a RV can be a great enabler allowing you to carry all your gear while providing the comforts and conveniences of home wherever your favorite activity takes you.

Let's look at some of the activities that a RV enables you to enjoy easier and more comfortably.

Winter Recreation

Do you think RVing is just a summer activity? With a little planning and preparation, you can enjoy your RV year-round even in the depths of winter. First off you will need to find a place to camp that isn't snowed in or closed. Mild winters in Western Washington allow many campgrounds to remain open. A great place to start searching for a winter campout destination is "winter schedule page" on Washington State Parks website.
